SUMMER STYLE – WHAT I WORE TO EVENTS IN JUNE

Fuchsia dress for summer style

This year, my social life has exploded in the form of influencer events, and this month I’ve been busy mingling with other bloggers at various parties and soirees in a variety of blog-worthy outfits. A summer event is a brilliant opportunity to show off some summer style – so I thought I’d share my favourites outfits with you!

Glasgow Clyde College Fashion Show, Glasgow

Pink Versace pants with peplum top and turquoise necklace style

Before I start prattling on about this (very fetching) outfit, can I first take a moment to say how wonderful this fashion show was?  Each year GCC hosts an end of year fashion show for its students in the Fashion Design, Fashion Technology and Fashion Textiles departments and it was such an honour to be invited along as a guest (and sat in the FROW, no less).  I really was blown away by the designs and am seriously considering commissioning a few pieces from some of the designers. More on this in another post.

On to the outfit.  I’d been waiting for the perfect event to wear these trousers to, and this was definitely it.  A bargain from TK Maxx, these Versace Jeans colour block cigarette pants made me feel like a grown up glamour puss.  Paired with a floaty lace and satin smocked camisole, and a burst of summery colour from the turquoise statement necklace, it was an ideal ensemble for summer evening event – and one I plan on wearing again soon.

Urban Retreat Salon Influencer Event, Glasgow

Baby blue blazer summer style

The team at Urban Retreat Salon spoiled us rotten by bringing the (long overdue) summer indoors with a summer beach theme party.  Top fashion tip: flamingos are in right now.

One of my beautiful blogging friends, Marlies, recently wore a gorgeous baby-blue blazer which inspired me to find my own.  I have a long list of ‘to find’ fashion items, and blazers of various styles make up the majority of it!  One other blazer on the list was a lace one, after the Versace F/W 2019 catwalk stole my heart (you remember the one that Kendall wore, right?).  Anyway, my prayers were answered with this baby blue lace number from Nasty Gal, which was reduced to just £14 in the sale! I wasn’t particularly fond of the covered buttons it came with so I replaced them with some cheap silver ones from Amazon, and then paired it with some crisp white shorts, gunmetal heels and voila – you’ve got yourself a perfect indoor beach/flamingo/beauty party outfit!

No1 Magazine Summer Party, Edinburgh

Fuchsia dress for summer style

It was a glorious sunny Sunday last weekend, which was perfect for No1 Magazine’s Summer Party in Edinburgh at the Hilton.  Fun and frolics were had by all and there were a lot of amazing prizes won by the guests – who showcased their own summer style; think ‘Ladies Day’ for the vibe.  The view from the penthouse wasn’t half bad either!

It was a perfect event to wear something a little more fancy – like this bright fuchsia number from ASOS.  A slightly stretchy bodycon fabric made me feel slinky, classy and comfortable whilst the black fascinator provided a dressy upgrade and an eye-catching colour contrast.  I kept my other accessories in a neutral tone to ensure the outfit was still light and fun for the sun.

Kreativedon PR Launch, Dundee

Valentino silk shirt dress

You had me at ‘dress code: VIP Glam’.

Really though, from the moment I RSVP’d I couldn’t wait to crack out my boujiee-est attire, and last night’s launch party was a real treat.  We were plied with yummy cocktails, an avant-garde fashion show, giveaways and music. I think that this PR Company, the brainchild of Howard Ejegi, is really going places.

It was a hot night and sometimes I love nothing more than head-to-toe black to set off a fresh tan on a summer’s evening.  This Valentino blouse dress (S/S 2016) is so effortless but it was also an absolute steal from – wait for it – TK Maxx again! Reduced from £1400 to £240. Yes, you read that right.

I got a £1400 pure silk Valentino dress for £240.

I know, you hate me. Sorry.

I finished off the VIP look with various high-end accoutrements, nipping in the waist with a vintage Chanel chain belt, adding a matching chain handle shoulder mini bag and creating a bit of interest with my favourite Louboutin sock booties.  Comfy, floaty, cool and chic.

Dress, Valentino
