There’s something so magical about Spring — daffodils poking up through the grass, soft golden light sneaking through your window just a little earlier each morning, and the way the world starts to bloom again after months of frost and stillness. For me, Spring has become more than just a season; it’s an invitation to romanticise my life, reinvent my routines and step into my main character energy.
After a busy winter in Scotland, filled with deadlines and digital distractions, I’ve been craving the softness that Spring brings. Yes, it’s still busy – but there’s something about the aesthetic of Spring, and the energy it brings, that encourages us to see the beauty in everything we do; to look for ways to feel present, to find joy in the ordinary, and to create daily rituals that make our lives feel beautiful.
If you’re longing to tune into that Spring energy, here are five simple ways to romanticise your Spring and make everyday life feel special.

1. Fresh Flowers in Spring Colours
I was really lucky this Spring, because after Jonathan and I got engaged a couple of weeks ago we received several bunches of flowers from friends. One of those was a bunch of stunning white roses, which I’ve always loved for their elegance and simplicity. Sitting on our side table in the living room, they’re the first thing you see as you enter the room, and they immediately bring a smile to my face. White, pastel shades, or even bright yellow daffodils all add Spring energy to a space. I’ve also always thought flowers add sophistication too…I mean, people who have fresh flowers in their home just seem to have their sh*t together, right?
I’ve now made a note to ensure I buy fresh flowers weekly, to bring a little of the outside energy in.
Savings tip: When you’re in the shops, try skipping the big, expensive arrangements and choose a few stems you genuinely love. Alternatively, buy one or two single-colour bunches and separate them throughout the house in bud jars for a wider impact throughout your space.
2. Embracing Spring Scents
Spring has its own wonderful scent — that intoxicating mix of blossoms, fresh grass, rain-drenched earth, and citrusy air. It’s the smell of the world waking up! I’ve been bringing these scents into my life lately by layering them throughout my home and beauty routine. Flowers, like above, are the obvious way to invite Spring scents into your home, but there are plenty of other options too:
To start, I switched out my winter candle for something lighter — think neroli, wild peony, or bergamot if you’re going to do the same. My friend Rachael gave me this stunning Celine Grand Lys candle when she asked me to be her bridesmaid last year, and I deliberately saved it for this season. With white lily, pimento, ylang-ylang, and heliotrope it fills the room with a scent so luxurious and pretty that I’m instantly transported to a manicured garden of a French country estate.
I’e also changed my pillow mist from lavender (which I feel is a heavier scent suited to later in the year) to a citrus scent in the form of Cowshed’s Sleepy Calming Pillow Mist, and I’ve taken to spritzing a floral perfume on my wrists even if I’m not leaving the house. My all-time favourite for Spring Summer is Boss Orange, with it’s light orangey scent that effortlessly transports me to calm sunny days. There’s something incredibly indulgent about smelling like a garden in full bloom while doing laundry or reading in bed.
Other subtle ways to bring scent into spring: Wax melts, hand cream with jasmine or orange blossom, or even a bowl of sliced oranges on your windowsill. Scent is strongly attached to memories — so fill your space with the kind of vibes you want to remember!

3. Journalling in the Morning Sun
Before I pick up my phone, check my emails, or even speak to another human, I’ve been reaching for my journal. There’s something sacred about those quiet morning minutes, when the rest of the world – including Jonathan – haven’t woken up yet, and the only sound is birdsong outside your window.
I don’t write pages and pages — just a few lines. Sometimes it’s a quick brain dump, sometimes a little gratitude list, and sometimes just a couple of sentences on how I’d like my dat to go. It doesn’t have to be poetic to have a powerful impact on my mindset for the rest of the morning.
What I love most is sitting with a cup of something warm nearby, letting my thoughts wander across the page with no particular rush. It makes me feel like I’ve chosen the kind of day I want to have.
Tips for romanticising your life through journaling: Use a pen you love. Light a candle. Wrap yourself in a blanket. Make it into proper ‘me’ time rather than something else to tick off each day!

4. Eating Outdoors Whenever I Can
Here’s the thing: food just tastes better when it’s outside, right? I’m just back from a short trip to Venice and we ate almost every meal outside there, in the salty air. The food was already divine, but the setting? That was everything.
This Spring I’ve been taking my breakfast to the windowsill, sipping my cappuccino on my morning walk, and – when I’m working from home – eating lunch in our communal garden. There’s something so romantic about feeling the breeze on your skin, hearing the birds chatter above you, and noticing the flavours of your food whilst you’re surrounded by nature.
Even if it’s just ten minutes, eating outdoors is one of the most beautiful ways to slow down and reconnect with your surroundings. It’s a little escape, and one of the best ways to romanticise your Spring, in my opinion.
Easy outdoor ideas: Keep a picnic blanket by the front door, or in your car if you have one. Use an insulated cup for coffee and head to to the park for a few minutes of peace. Sit outside at a tiny café table, or put cushions in your windowsill if that’s more realistic. Nature doesn’t need to be dramatic — even a patch of grass or an open window has its benefits!

5. Switching Up My Makeup for Soft-Girl Spring
After a long season of matte foundations and neutral tones, I’ve been embracing a softer, more dewy spring look. Think glowing skin, flushed cheeks, brushed-up brows, and a whisper of shimmer on the lids. It’s less about perfection and more about playing with texture and light.
My current staples? A cheek tint such as Glossier Cloud Paint in Gleam, and Dior Addict Lip Glow in Candy, which looks like I’ve just bitten into some raspberries whilst still not being a full-on colour pop. It’s a tiny physical transformation that makes me feel fresh, feminine, and a little bit magical.
Romanticise your Spring beauty routine: Do your makeup slowly, by a window if possible. Put on your Spring playlist. Use your fingers instead of brushes. Make it feel like art, not a task!
In the End, It’s About Intention
Romanticising your spring isn’t about turning your life into an aesthetic highlight reel, nor is it about finding that One Product that’s going to make your life perfect. It’s about bringing intention and presence to the way you move through the world.
Whether it’s sipping tea from a pretty cup, picking a playlist that matches your mood, or catching the sunset on your evening walk, these small, gentle choices are how I’m learning to fall in love with the everyday again
